Medical-Legal Quality Assurance

An effectively written medical report is more likely to persuade its target audience and lead to a favorable outcome. A compelling expert witness’s report will include these components:

 ·      Patient history is presented in an easy-to-follow logical flow.

·      Language is clear, with medical concepts and terminology made understandable to the non-expert.

·      All facts originating from the medical records have been crosschecked and verified, with no omissions of crucial information.

·      Any questions raised within the report should be addressed and answered.

·      Any citations and references included in the report conform to the chosen style.

·      The overall result is a text that is accurate, readable and easily understood.

Above all, accuracy of facts and details is the key element of a quality report.

In addition to fact-checking, editing for stylistic and structural integrity, analyzing to confirm that questions raised have been answered, reviewing and crosschecking reports with the source material and flagging for unintended omissions, I’m happy to proofread final drafts of reports. Depending on the needs of your project, I will copy edit for grammar, spelling, and style consistency; check for formatting issues; and/or review for the accuracy and effectiveness of visual elements like charts and tables.

Please feel secure in knowing your report is in safe hands with an editor who respects the sensitive nature of private medical information.
